EdTech Startup learningBOX Wins Internationally Prestigious IMS Japan Award for Excellence

In an industry-academia collaboration project with Suzuka University of Medical Science on new education brought about by EdTech

learningBOX, Inc. is pleased to announce that we received the internationally prestigious IMS Japan Award for Excellence for its joint research on new education brought about by EdTech with Suzuka University of Medical Sciences, an industry-academia collaboration.

About "IMS Japan Award"

The 1EdTech Japan Society was launched in June 2016 to commemorate the founding of the 1EdTech Japan Society, and is modeled after the internationally acclaimed 1EdTech Consortium's (formerly IMS Global Learning Consortium's) Learning Impact Award (LIA). The award is modeled after the internationally acclaimed Learning Impact Award (LIA) of the 1EdTech Consortium (formerly the IMS Global Learning Consortium) and recognizes outstanding challenges that have made a significant contribution to the use of technology in education. This year, the Grand Prize (1 company), the Excellence Award (2 companies), and the Encouragement Award (3 companies) were selected.

The award ceremony was held at Ochanomizu Sola City on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, and Yoichiro Nishimura, Representative Director, attended the ceremony.

About the e-learning system "learningBOX": Bringing the power of AI into education

learningBOX is a cloud-based e-learning system that focuses on ease of use and affordability. The service is focused on an intuitive UI/UX that allows even those without specialized IT knowledge to easily create and manage teaching materials, manage members, save and view grades, and more. The total number of registered users has reached 20,000 (as of the end of February 2023), and the service is being used by many users regardless of industry or type of business.

In September 2023, a new function "AI Assist" linked to ChatGPT was implemented, enabling automatic generation of teaching materials by AI and report analysis, etc. Various AI Assist functions will be implemented after December 2023, including "automatic course creation" by AI. In the spring of next year, we plan to add multilingual support for more than 10 countries.

Industry-University Collaboration Project with Suzuka University of Medical Science

SUMS, first four-year medical school in Japan, has trained specialists who will lead the next generation of Japanese medicine and welfare, and learningBOX, Inc., an EdTech startup that has developed an e-learning system that allows anyone to easily build a cloud-based learning environment, In November 2022, they signed a memorandum of understanding on industry-academia collaboration and are proceeding with the project.

We are honoured to have been selected for this very prestigious award. I am very excited and motivated for the future. We are currently working with Suzuka University of Medical Science on an industry-academia collaborative project, sharing information on the creation of effective teaching materials and making mutual proposals for functional improvements. In the future, we intend to conduct initiatives aimed at further optimizing individualized learning and improving the pass rate for national examinations, and to return the knowledge we have gained to society.

Suzuka University of Medical Science

It was the first "four-year medical university" established in Japan in 1991.
