Strengthened the Industry-Academia Collaboration with the Input from SUMS

learningBOX, Inc. held an online review meeting on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, as part of a joint project with the Punjab Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (P-TEVTA), Pakistan. The initiatives for e-learning utilization at the TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) were reported at the meeting.

Background

learningBOX, Inc. signed a contract with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the "Survey for Introduction of e-learning self-study tool for TVET Diploma/Certificate Acquisition in Pakistan" (contract period: October 22, 2021 - September 15, 2022). Expectations for the use of e-learning have increased among local counterparts, and the project with P-TEVTA has been continued.

In the survey, three pilot TVET institutes in Lahore, Punjab (GCT Railway Road, GCT for Women Lytton Road, and Ahmad Hassan Polytechnic Institute) were involved. About eight teachers each of three subjects (English, mathematics, and AutoCAD) were instructed on how to use the e-learning system; learningBOX, to explore its potential for use as a learning tool. Along with the positive impacts, there were high expectations for the use of e-learning at the site.

From September (partly October) of 2022, the digital contents the teachers had created were assigned to some of the students in GCT schools to promote learning. This review meeting was held for the purpose of summarizing efforts since last September and unifying awareness toward solving future issues.
