Tailored learning paths using typing software and AI English vocabulary quizzes
On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, learningBOX, Inc. conducted a hands-on, ICT-based class for special needs students at Tatsuno Municipal Tatsuno Higashi Junior High School. Utilizing the typing learning modules within our e-learning platform, "learningBOX," alongside "Eitango Quiz" (an AI-powered English vocabulary learning tool), the program was tailored to each student’s comprehension level and learning pace.
In the post-class survey, 95% of students reported that the class was "fun," with many expressing a desire to do it again and highlighting how much they enjoyed the typing activities. By leveraging ICT tools, the session provided a supportive educational environment where students could challenge themselves at their own pace and build confidence through a sense of achievement.
Exploring Personalized Learning in Collaboration with Local Schools
Tatsuno Higashi Junior High School is the alma mater of Yoichiro Nishimura, CEO of learningBOX, Inc. The partnership was sparked in 2025 when the school participated in the local work-experience program with our company. A shared goal, to deliver the joy of ICT-based learning to local youth, led to the realization of this collaborative class.
In recent years, educational settings have increasingly emphasized individually optimized learning catered to each student's unique traits and comprehension level. ICT learning tools are widely seen as a valuable way to realize this goal, as they allow students to learn at their own pace through repetition while building a steady stream of success experiences.
This initiative aimed to create a low-pressure, encouraging environment by introducing engaging typing exercises and an AI-driven English vocabulary game.
Event Agenda: Partnering to Deliver New Learning Opportunities
The two-hour session proceeded as follows:
1. Opening Remarks by CEO: An Entrepreneurial Journey & Introduction to learningBOX
CEO Yoichiro Nishimura opened the session by reflecting on his time as a student at Tatsuno Higashi Junior High School and sharing his experience founding a business in his hometown of Tatsuno. He then gave an accessible overview of the e-learning system, "learningBOX," used during the class.
2. Icebreaker: Tatsuno Higashi Junior High School Quiz Challenge
Next, students took part in a 10-question trivia quiz covering facts about Tatsuno City, general knowledge, and Tatsuno Higashi Junior High School. The relaxed atmosphere fostered natural interaction among the students and learningBOX staff members.
3. Typing Challenge
"Typing Challenge" is an e-learning tool designed to build focus and a sense of accomplishment through five difficulty levels where students type displayed words and sentences quickly and accurately. During the session, students selected difficulty levels aligned with their proficiency, practicing at their own pace to improve accuracy. Many students celebrated their progress over previous attempts or shared their results with classmates.

4. Eitango Quiz (English Vocabulary Quiz)
"Eitango Quiz" is a free learning tool where students choose the correct meaning of English words from four options. The quiz featured content based on Habatake Sekai e! Habatan (Hyogo Prefecture’s English vocabulary guide for junior high students). Driven by AI, the tool automatically adjusts difficulty based on each user's progress. Though the questions grew increasingly challenging, students demonstrated impressive persistence.

Throughout the session, six learningBOX staff members worked alongside teachers to provide personalized guidance based on individual comprehension and progress. This public-private partnership aimed to establish a comfortable, supportive environment for students to engage with ICT learning.
Positive Student Engagement with ICT Tools
In the post-class survey, 95% of students answered that the session was "fun." Furthermore, 79% reported that they were able to complete the "Typing Challenge" through to the end, showcasing sustained focus and repeated effort.
For the "Eitango Quiz," some students found higher difficulty levels challenging or experienced moments of distraction. Nevertheless, 74% expressed a desire to participate in similar classes in the future, demonstrating a positive interest in digital learning tools.

Student Feedback Highlights:
- "Trying the typing exercises was really fun."
- "I liked being able to do typing activities tailored to my grade level."
- "I like English, so I want to keep trying my best."
- "I want to do this again."
These results suggest that digital tools can make learning an enjoyable process while fostering a personalized environment where students feel empowered to challenge themselves.
Comment from Mr. Kaino, Teacher at Tatsuno Higashi Junior High School
"This class offered our students a fresh perspective showing them that they can pursue their goals without having to leave for big cities, while sparking their interest in local businesses.
Our school already collaborates with a local business for our home economics classes, so this marks our second local corporate partnership. I am relieved that it went smoothly, and I am deeply moved that a connection started during the local work-experience program developed into this initiative.
Seeing students display sides of themselves they rarely show in daily school life reaffirmed my belief that children naturally take initiative when they find educational materials that truly fit them.
Furthermore, despite interacting with unfamiliar adults for the first time, the students proactively sought help and asked questions out of genuine curiosity. To me, that desire to learn is essential; it represents a fundamental drive for acquiring life knowledge that cannot always be reflected in report card grades. As educators, our role is to foster that drive, and I feel fortunate to have provided them with such intellectual stimulation.
I extend my sincere gratitude to learningBOX for proposing this initiative, and to the parents and guardians whose ongoing understanding and support make these programs possible."
