A survey of 218 people in the medical care industry was conducted.

First, when asked what type of employee training was conducted, the results were "online (11.0%)," "face-to-face (55.5%)," and "both online and face-to-face (33.5%).

When asked, "What type of employee training do you receive? (*Including open recruitment), the most common response was "New employee training (48.6%)," followed by "Mid-career training (28.4%)" and "Job-specific training (26.2%).

About 80% believe that the content of employee training needs to be changed every year, and 40% are not satisfied with the training

About 80% (82.1%) of respondents in the medical care industry believe that the content of employee training needs to be changed every year, and about 70% (71.6%) feel that the content of that employee training is applied to their work.

Furthermore, when asked about their level of satisfaction with their current employee training, approximately 40% (43.6%) were not satisfied, the lowest among the five industries.

On the other hand, we also asked the respondents what aspects of their current employee training they are satisfied with.
Some excerpts of its contents are,

It is a good learning experience when there is a moderate amount of training because revised systems have to be learned through training (30s/Saitama).
Satisfaction is high when the content can be immediately applied to one's own work (40s/Tokyo).
It is because it creates a bond among peers and allows us to build a relationship in which we can consult and help each other when we are in trouble (40s / Gifu Prefecture).
Communication skills training was well received (50s / Fukuoka)

They seem to be satisfied with this point.

The most common issue with employee training in the healthcare industry is "forgetting the content of employee education and training after some time" at 50.9%.

When asked what problems they felt about employee training, the most common response was "I forget the content of employee education and training after a while (50.9%)," followed by "I cannot acquire sufficient knowledge and skills (33.0%)," and "The content of employee education and training is not up-to-date (24.3%). (24.3%)" followed.

It was found that there is a sense of challenge in the employee training provided in the medical care field, such as employee education and training content being forgotten after a period of time.

Specifically.

Some contents are only delivered in video once a year, so it is difficult to remain as knowledge (20s / Fukuoka).
The sense of obligation and the fact that it is imposed by the boss and not something you really want to learn or acquire (40s / Shimane Prefecture).
I received the content of the training, but there were discrepancies with the actual work, and when I checked later, the training content was not up-to-date (40s / Saitama Prefecture).
The main purpose and effectiveness of training tends to be lost because they try to cover a wide range of topics in a short time (60's/Kyoto).

They seemed to feel that this was a challenge.

In particular, respondents also seemed to feel that "employee education and training is not up-to-date," but only the medical care industry ranked in the top three, with 24.3% of respondents ranking this as a problem.

Is "practical" important to the healthcare industry in employee education and training?

When asked what they felt was important in terms of employee education and training, the most common response was "Provide training that can be applied in the field (55.5%)," followed by "Design education and training that matches the employee's level (54.6%)," and "Create a system and environment that allows repetition until the content takes root (39.0%). (39.0%)" followed.

This result is likely due to the large number of practical tasks.
Finally, we asked what specific things they think should be done to make employee education and training meaningful,

・Implement necessary training by surveying employees on what kind of training they would like to receive (30s/Kyoto Prefecture).
It is important to ensure sufficient training time and to make it one's own strength by giving training reports and practicing in the field (30s/Miyagi Prefecture).
How can we make OJT training more effective in the field, and the coaching techniques (30s / Iwate).
I think it is necessary to create a system that allows each person's opinion to be heard, as each person has a different idea of what is necessary for the company and what he/she can do and what is lacking (40s / Shimane, Japan).

The respondents answered that they were not sure.
Since the skills and knowledge of employees vary from person to person, the respondents expressed a desire for practical training content, such as on-the-job training, as well as measures to incorporate employees' opinions through questionnaires and other means.

Summary: The medical care industry requires "practical" and "up-to-date" employee training.

Employee training provided to the medical care industry was found to be a trend toward a desire for practical employee training, such as "providing training that can be applied in the field" and "designing education and training to match employee level.
